1. Who we are and scope
The Craftsmen’s House Ltd, trading as The Craftsmen’s Boutik (‘Company’, ‘we’, ‘our’), is a Mauritius-based importer and business-to-business distributor of products from multiple brands. This Policy applies to visitors to https://thecraftsmensboutik.mu and to individuals who contact us on behalf of actual or prospective business customers. The Company is the controller of personal data described here. Registered office: St Denis Street, 2 River Court, Port Louis, 1112-07 MU. Privacy contact: info@thecraftsmensboutik.mu.
2. Information we collect
We may collect a business representative’s name, job title, employer or business name, business contact details, location, product interests, requested quantities, enquiry messages, quotation and correspondence history, and records of commercial follow-up. Where enabled by our website infrastructure, we may receive IP addresses, browser/device details, security logs and cookie identifiers. We do not seek sensitive personal data through enquiry forms; please do not include it.
3. Sources of information
We obtain information directly through enquiry and request-to-order forms, email, telephone and discussions with our sales representative. We may also receive business contact details from a representative’s employer, a referral, a brand partner or other lawful business source. Technical information may be recorded automatically by hosting and security services.
4. Why we process data and legal grounds
We use contact and enquiry details to respond to requests, discuss product specifications, arrange meetings and provide quotations. This is generally necessary to take steps requested before a commercial contract and/or for our legitimate interest in handling genuine B2B enquiries, subject to applicable law. We use business correspondence and transaction records to administer relationships, coordinate orders and deliveries, manage accounts and resolve disputes, relying as appropriate on contract-related necessity, legitimate interests and legal obligations. We use limited technical logs to operate and secure the site, generally on legitimate-interest grounds. We send optional promotional communications only where a lawful basis exists, including consent where required. Where processing is based on consent, it may be withdrawn.
5. Is providing information required?
You may browse public pages without submitting an enquiry. Fields marked required on an enquiry form are needed so we can identify the requesting business and respond. If you do not provide the necessary contact or request information, we may be unable to answer or progress your enquiry. An enquiry does not require you to consent to unrelated marketing.
6. Recipients and service providers
Information may be accessed by authorised staff and sales representatives; website hosting, email, IT, security and business administration providers; logistics partners when needed for a subsequent supply arrangement; professional advisers; and competent public authorities where required. Relevant details may be shared with brand owners or suppliers where necessary to address a particular enquiry, subject to appropriate safeguards. Service providers acting on our behalf must handle data for authorised purposes under suitable confidentiality and security arrangements. We do not sell personal data.
7. International transfers
Our website, email or other service providers, or some brand partners, may be based outside Mauritius. Before transferring personal data abroad, we will assess and implement the requirements and safeguards applicable under the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017. The countries and transfer mechanisms depend on the actual service providers selected and should be confirmed before launch.
8. Cookies and website analytics
Essential cookies or comparable technologies may be used for basic functionality, security and spam prevention. Analytics, advertising pixels and other optional tracking will be described and configured with any consent or choice controls required by applicable law before being enabled. The precise cookie categories, providers and retention periods must be verified against the live website. Browser settings may allow you to block or delete cookies, although some site functions may be affected.
9. Retention
We keep enquiry information for the period reasonably needed to respond, follow up and maintain a relevant business relationship. Records connected to confirmed transactions, tax, accounting, disputes or legal obligations may be kept longer as required or justified by law. Technical logs are retained for a proportionate security or operational period. We review information periodically and delete or anonymise it when no longer necessary. Specific schedules will be established in our internal retention policy.
10. Security
We take appropriate organisational and technical steps to protect personal data, including access controls, staff confidentiality expectations and suitable protections for website, email and IT services. No online system is completely risk-free. We will assess and address suspected data incidents in accordance with applicable law.
11. Your data protection rights
Subject to applicable conditions and exceptions, you may request access to and correction of your personal data, erasure, restriction, object to certain processing (including direct marketing), request applicable data portability and withdraw consent where relied upon. We may request reasonable proof of identity before acting on a request. To exercise a right, contact info@thecraftsmensboutik.mu or write to our registered office. You may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commissioner of Mauritius (https://dataprotection.govmu.org).
12. Marketing choices
An enquiry or request for quotation is not an automatic subscription to marketing. Where we offer marketing sign-up, it will be separate from the enquiry submission and will include an appropriate opt-out mechanism. You can ask us to stop direct marketing at any time.
13. External websites and minors
Links to brand-owner or third-party sites lead to independently operated services with their own privacy practices. Our website is directed to business users, not children, and we do not intentionally solicit children’s personal data.
14. Changes and contact
We may revise this Policy as operations or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will appear on the website.
